Ashmore Community Children's Centre
PHILOSOPHY & GOALS |
|
Ashmore Community Children’s Centre will use the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia as the basis for their curriculum. The principles, practices and learning outcomes will influence our decision making and help us to work towards providing a high quality, non-profit service, where parents have opportunities for input into the operation and decision making of the centre. We believe that all children are important as individuals who need opportunities to learn and develop at their own pace, and whose dignity and diversity are respected. Educators will build and maintain secure respectful and reciprocal relationships to support the development of a strong sense of wellbeing. Educators continually seek ways to build their professional knowledge and develop learning communities. They become co-learners with children, families and community, and value the continuity and richness of local knowledge shared by local community members, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. We believe that the centre should provide a standard of care which ensures a safe, secure and nurturing environment for children. We believe that PLAY is fundamental for young children’s learning and forms the basis of our programs. We believe that the centre should facilitate and support the inclusion of children with additional needs. We believe that the cultural diversity of children and families should be respected, valued and supported. Educators will be committed to equity and believe in all children’s capacity to succeed, regardless of diverse circumstances and abilities. Educators recognize that diversity contributes to the richness of our society and provides a valid evidence base about ways of knowing. For Australia it also includes promoting greater understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being. We believe that parents have the right to make decisions and choices for their own child and the centre supports parents in their role. Educators will work in partnership with families to create a welcoming environment where all children and families are respected and actively encouraged to collaborate with educators about curriculum decisions in order to ensure that learning experiences are meaningful.
